Defiant North Korea led by headstrong leader Kim Jong Un is blowing hot after it was slammed with fresh sanctions by the UN Security Council.

The pariah nation declared that the US will “suffer the greatest pain” over its role in the imposition of latest sanctions on it.

North Korea’s ambassador to the UN, while speaking after the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a US-draft resolution slapping new sanctions on his country issued the threat.

“The forthcoming measures … will make the US suffer the greatest pain it ever experienced in its history,” Han Tae Song, North Korea’s ambassador to the UN, said on Tuesday.

Yesterday, neighbours South Korea welcomed the fresh sanctions imposed on North Korea by the UN Security Council which unanimously adopted a US-drafted resolution.

In a statement by South Korea’s foreign ministry said the sanction is result of a “strict warning from the international community”, while it also informed that the South will continue to strengthen cooperation with the international community to ensure that the resolutions “are thoroughly implemented”.

The new sanction according to reports bans North Korea from importing all natural gas liquids and condensates but bars Pyongyang’s imports of crude oil at the level of the last 12 months, and it limits the import of refined petroleum products to 2 million barrels a year.
