Oliseh appointed coach of Dutch second division club

Former Super Eagles manager Sunday Oliseh has been appointed coach of Dutch second division club Fortuna Sittard on an 18-month contract which can be extended by another season.

The 42-year-old former Nigeria international will begin work on the 2nd of January, 2017, with Sittard that are currently 18th on the Dutch second-tier league with 15 points after 19 matches.

His first game will be played exactly eleven days after assuming office.

Sittard owner Isitan Gun announced on the club’s website that they are delighted to hire such a young and ambitious coach as Oliseh.

“With Sunday Oliseh we signed a young and ambitious coach with vision, one players look up to,” said Gün.

“We were looking for someone who offers attractive football combined with the sheer will to win. In Sunday we think we find this trainer.”

Oliseh, who did quit as Nigeria coach in February this year, has had a previous coaching experience in Europe with Belgian lower league club Vervietois. And as a player, with Juventus, Ajax Amsterdam, Borussia Dortmund Etc.
