Omorogbe confronts Okoroji over COSON court case

Embattled founder and chief executive officer of Now Muzik Ltd, Efe Omoregbe has declared that his is ready to spend a year in jail to discontinue the regime of Tony Okoroji as the Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON).

In an interview with GoldmyneTV, Efe who was arrested and paraded alongside one Joel Ajayi before Magistrate O.O. Oshin of Igbosere Magistrate Court for forgery and impersonation says Okoroji is resorting to intimidation to stop an audit of COSON.

He said; “It is true I was detained; I and Mr. Joel Ajayi were arraigned on Thursday. Our lawyers secured our bails and the case was adjourned. We will release a statement very soon after consulting with the rest of our people.

“If in the course of fighting for the good of COSON, I have to spend a year in jail, I will gladly do so. Ex-president Olusegun Obansajo was jailed and the late Mandela was in jail for 27 years. So being jailed doesn’t change the fact that right is right and wrong is wrong.”

Omorogbe also added that his arrest was not right and said he was not surprised that Okoroji has resorted to intimidation saying “When people are desperate to hide the truth, they adopt all kinds of strategies to cover up”.

“The arrest is not entirely right, but Okoroji will do everything possible to avoid being questioned. He is running havoc; he is doing whatever he likes. When people are desperate to hide the truth, they adopt all kinds of strategies.

“COSON is a public institution and it should be audited. That is a simple request or demand. If he claims his hands are clean and he has not done anything wrong, he should be the one calling for an audit. If I run an institution and there is an allegation of misdeed against me, I will be the first person to insist on an independent audit to clear my name.”

Trouble started when Omorogbe, 47, who is also a co-founder and director of 960 Music Group was announced to have been appointed as the new Chairman of COSON on the 7th of December, 2017.

Reports say Omorogbe was appointed as the new Chairman after thorough deliberations by members of the COSON Board which lasted several hours at the COSON House.

However, drama ensued two weeks later when Tony Okoroji was theatrically installed again to lead the society by members of COSON who said they wanted him to continue his leadership.

Okoroji said the initial move to replace him with Omoregbe was bizarre and a conspiracy.
