One confirmed case of COVID-19 in Lagos evacuated to US —Commissioner

The Lagos State government led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revealed that one of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state has been evacuated to the United State of America.

This was revealed on Wednesday by Prof. Akin Abayomi, the State Commissioner for Health, who noted on his Twitter handle that the State recorded a new case of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Giving an update on the patients, he wrote, “Lagos records a new case of #COVID19, 31st March, 2020.

“Total #COVID19Lagos cases is now 82…8 patients have so far been discharged following their full recovery.

“One of the confirmed cases, who is an American citizen, has been evacuated to the USA,” he added.

This comes after the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni and his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana both donated 50 percent of their basic salaries to the state’s COVID-19 Support Fund to help fight the spread of the disease.

This was revealed on Tuesday in a statement issued by Abdullahi Bego, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture and COVID-19 Resource Mobilization Sub-Committee Secretary.

Bego also added in the statement that members of the State Executive Council, the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service and the Chief of Staff to the governor also donated 50 percent of their basic salaries to the Fund.
