Onyekuru continues to shine, secures win for Anderlecht with brace

Everton loanee, Henry Onyekuru helped Anderlecht to a 4-3 victory with two goals to his name against KV Mechelen in the Belgian top division on Friday night.

The Super Eagles striker, who scored the second and third goals of the night, increased his goals tally to six since his arrival at the Belgian champions.

“All praises due! A win and 2 more goals! ⚽️⚽️? Let’s go @rscanderlecht,” the 20-year old tweeted after the game.

It was Pieter Gerkens who opened the scoring on 18 minutes before Onyekuru doubled the visitors’ lead on the half hour mark.

The hosts then pulled a one back through Rob Schoofs four minutes later, to ignite Anderlecht’s firing power as Onyekuru and Lukasz Teodorczyk scored to take the score to 4-1 before halftime.

But Michelen pushed to level after the break as a 60th-minute Nicklas Pedersen’ goal and a 92nd-minute Boureima Bande’s ended the game on a 4-3 slim win for the visitors.

The win means Anderlecht are now third on the log with 18 points, six points behind leaders Club Brugge who play Oostende on Sunday.

20-year-old Onyekuru is on loan from Everton and will likely return to the English side by the end of this season.
