Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has thrown his weight behind Golden Eaglets kid sensation, Victor Osimhen, stressing that the Chile 2015 highest goal scorer merited his inclusion in his team to the African U-23 Championship in Senegal.

Speaking during official press conference organized by CAF in Mbour, on Saturday, ahead of the clash against Mali on Sunday, Siasia maintained that Osihmen merited his place in the U-23 Eagles.

“The young man (Victor) did not replace anybody or made this team on emotions, Siasia said.

“Osimhen earned his place as he showed maturity in training, besides, don’t forget he scored ten goals in Chile, and you don’t score such amount of goals in such a competition in error. I brought him here to show the world that what he did in Chile is no fluke,” he boasted.

Siasia however maintained that his team is poised to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

“We were the last team to arrive in Senegal and by extension we will be the last team to leave Senegal.

“My target is to play five matches here in Senegal, and with the team I have on the ground here, the target is achievable,” he enthused.
