OSUN GOV POLL: PDP claims victory, cries foul over INEC delay to announce result

The People Democratic Party (PDP) has said that its candidate, Ademola Adeleke, is the winner of the Saturday Osun State governorship election.

It said that the delay by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to officially declare its candidate winner of the election was “another ploy to manipulate the process.”

‏The PDP claimed that from the results of all the 30 local government areas of Osun State already announced by INEC, that its candidate “won with 254,698 votes and closely followed” by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, who it says scored “254,345 votes.”

The party made the claim in a message on its Twitter handle.

“Breaking news! This is now official. With the results announced by the @inecnigeria, the @OfficialPDPNig has won with 254,698 votes and closely followed by the defeated @OfficialAPCNg, with 254,345 votes.

“We therefore call on @inecnigeria to declare our Candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as winner of the just concluded Osun State Gubernatorial Election. Nigerians are watching closely. INEC, tread carefully

“We had alerted earlier that @inecnigeria is under serious tremendous pressure by the defeated @OfficialAPCNg to manipulate the results in favour of the APC. The delay by INEC to declare our Candidate winner is another ploy to manipulate the process

“The unusual delay by the @inecnigeria Returning Officer in Osun State to declare our Candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke as winner of the Osun Guber Election after meeting All the requirements of the law is completely unacceptable,” PDP wrote.

Also speaking on the Osun election, president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki said Nigerians are monitoring the results.

He said on his twitter handle, “As we await the result from Osun state, let us remember that collation is just a simple addition of results. This election is a test of our democracy. @inecnigeria and security agencies are under test. All well meaning Nigerians are awake monitoring the results closely”.
