Owen Hargreaves tells Arsenal to capitalise on Bayern's faulty defence

After Monday’s UEFA Champions League draw that saw the English Premier League side Arsenal paired against German champions Bayern Munich, a former Bayern midfielder, Owen Hargreaves has said the gunners have an edge over their opponents owing to their defensive issues.

While speaking on BT Sport on Monday, the former English defensive midfielder, believes Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez could capitalise on the current unconvincing form of Bayern’s Hummels and Boateng to net in goals.

“Boateng has really struggled this season, he was probably the best player in the Bundesliga last season,” he explained.

“There are issues defensively for Bayern.

“I just think with Sanchez against Hummels and Boateng, I’d fancy Sanchez to score every game.

“If Arsenal can get an away goal in Munich, then it’s game on, no question,” he added.

The Gunners will be facing the German champions at this stage a fourth time in the last five seasons, with their first leg to be played in Munich on Feb 15. But the gunners will be hoping to triumph over their rivals for the very first time in so long, in order to get past the round-16 this season.

Meanwhile, Bayern boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has told UEFA.com that he looks forward to playing interesting games against Arsenal, and believes his team would make it to the quater-finals.

“We are looking forward to two interesting games. I have faith in my team and hope we can reach the quarter-finals. Arsenal have a very good team at the moment and a manager I hold in high esteem.”
