3 months after demolition, Oyo govt begins reconstruction of Ayefele's Fresh FM building

Gospel singer Yinka Ayefele is said to be in good spirits following the commencement of the rebuilding of his premises- Music House, which was partially demolished by the Oyo State Government.

However, the Oyo State Government led by its number one citizen Abiola Ajimobi has stated the reason and its role in the ongoing reconstruction of the building which was demolished last August.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Mr Bolaji Tunji, the state government said it decided to embark on the rebuilding after Ayefele acknowledged contravention of the state building code and appeals from various stakeholders in the state.

The statement by the Oyo State government reads thus in part; “There is also the recession of the current façade on the frontage of the building by 2.9m. The new fence will be grill fence to ensure visibility, while a staircase will be built at the basement to access the studio.

“The structural elements in the building will also be strengthened, while the two projections at both ends (stair halls) of the current frontage will be retained.

“Following Mr Ayefele’s admittance of breach of procedures in the construction of the building and his subsequent apologies, as well as intervention of well-meaning members of the public, the governor agreed to temper justice with mercy.

Reports say construction workers are on site doing their business with sources revealing that they have a deadline to complete work on the building by December 2018.

The development was also confirmed by Samson Akindele, the Head of News at Fresh FM radio in Ibadan, who confirmed that work on the building will be completed before December to enable them meet up preparation for the Christmas celebration.
