The on-going #ResumeOrResign protest spearheaded by former President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy was reportedly disrupted by an angry mob on Tuesday.

Sources say that Charly Boy and his band of protesters were reportedly stoned and narrowly escaped mob action after they were sighted by angry traders and protesters who are believed to be supporters of President Buhari at Wuse market, Abuja.

According to a trader who witnessed the incident, Charley Boy and a group of protesters came to the market with some cameramen to demonstrate in a market dominated by Hausas.

“I was standing in front of my shop when I saw him running for his dear life, being chased by those youth,” a trader at the market said.

“They nearly lynched him because those youth almost overpowered police security near him.”

Recall that the second day of the protests turned rowdy when policemen fired tear gas canisters at protesters, injuring one person in the process in an incident condemned by the Senate.

Charly Boy and other protesters were having their sit-out at the Millennium Park opposite the Unity Fountain, Maitama, when policemen disrupted their gathering by firing tear gas canister to displace them.

Last Friday which marked the fifth day of the rally saw the #ResumeOrResign protest disrupted by a dozen members of a group sympathetic to President Muhammadu Buhari chanting ‘Sai Baba Sai Baba’, in a scene which almost snowballed into a clash but for the swift intervention of security operatives.
