Armed robbers have shot dead a cashier, identified only as Genesis, in the Ilupeju area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Genesis, a cashier with a plastics company in the Ilupeju Industrial Estate, was shot dead last Wednesday while he was heading for a bank with his colleagues’ salaries.

Our correspondent gathered that Genesis was shot three times by the gunmen, who also injured the company’s driver.

The matter was said to have been reported at the Ilupeju Police Division which removed Genesis’ corpse.

A source in the company said the robbers, however, could not take away the money with the cashier before they escaped.

He said, “The incident happened in the morning. The news came as a shock to all of us. The deceased is in his early 30s. He was on an assignment to pay the salaries of the workers when he and the driver were attacked.
