A private school located in Esugbo, Itamerin near Ijebu-Ife, Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State was thrown into disarray last Thursday as news filtered in over the alleged beheading of a 10-year old pupil identified as Precious Adedeji by her teacher.

The child -a pupil of Favour Nursery and Primary School who was also the granddaughter of the schools proprietor, Pastor Joseph Olitoye was killed by Edet Umoren over unpaid salaries for January and February which amounts to N8,000.

Reports say Precious and her friend were on their way back to their classroom after going to buy biscuit when they were waylaid by Umoren who dragged her into a nearby bush while the victims friend ran back to school to inform the proprietor of his granddaughters abduction.

Umoren who is also reported to be the treasurer of the proprietor’s church chopped off Precious’ head and also cut of her right hand after dragging her into the bush a day reports say was after her birthday.

The school owner who said he had earlier pleaded with Umoren to exercise patience till the end of the week for him to
sort out unpaid salaries informed that Umoren left a note at the scene of the crime disclosing that he took the life of his granddaughter for his inability to pay him his salary for two months.

A rather sad Olitoye who disclosed that he had planned to dismiss Umoren for his unruly behaviour claiming he allegedly stole N250,000 of the church’s fund said; “Edet resumed school this morning (Thursday) like every of our staff and we discovered that he left around 10am not knowing he went to plan this evil.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident said Umoren had been arrested and he also informing that the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for more investigation.
