Samsung boss summoned again by prosecutors over bribery allegations

Leader of Samsung Group, Jay Y. Lee will be summoned again by special prosecutors in South Korea for questioning on suspicion of bribery as part of its ongoing investigation into a political corruption scandal.

Spokesman for the special prosecutor Lee Kyu-chul, told newsmen that there are moves to decide whether to seek another arrest warrant for Lee after his questioning on Monday.

He also revealed that the special prosecution team would question two other Samsung executives on Monday.

Reports say prosecutors in South Korea have been checking whether Samsung’s support for a business and foundations backed by President Park Geun-hye’s friend, Choi Soon-sil was connected to a 2015 decision by the National Pension Service to back a controversial merger of two Samsung Group affiliates.

Ms Park is accused of giving Ms Choi inappropriate access to government policy-making and decisions.
Park has since acknowledged that she committed lapses, and apologised twice on national television but a probe into her activities are still ongoing.
