Sanwo-Olu files defence against petitions challenging his guber victory

Lagos State governor-elect Babajide Sanwo-Olu has responded to two petitions challenging his March 9 victory by filing his defense before the Lagos State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal.

Sanwo-Olu and Obafemi Hamzat, his deputy governor-elect were accompanied by a former Minister for Defence and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Demola Seriki when the defense was tabled.

The victory of Sanwo-Olu at the last governorship polls is set to be contested by Mr Owolabi Salis and Professor Ifagbemi Awamaridi of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and Labour Party (LP) respectively, after they both filed their petitions at the tribunal.

While reacting to the two petitions challenging his victory filed by the candidates of the AD and LP, Sanwo-Olu said he was ready to defend his mandate, adding that he was confident that the Tribunal would do its work well.
