Senate approves higher institutions for Buhari’s hometown, nine others

Ten new higher institutions including a polytechnic to be cited in President Muhammadu Buhari’s home, Daura, Katsina State and other parts of the country have been approved by the Senate.

The Senate adopted the report of the its Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, after it was presented to it on Wednesday by the committee’s chairman, Jibrin Barau, for consideration.

According to the lawmakers, the institutions would open up the education space in the country and help fight illiteracy.

It added that the approval was in line with the policy to establish polytechnics across the states.

The approved institutions include Federal Polytechnic, Kabo; Federal Polytechnic Daura; Federal University of Education, Aguleri; National Institute of Construction Technology and Management and Federal Polytechnic, Ikom.

Others are Federal College of Education(Technical) Arochukwu, Abia State; Federal Polytechnic Langtang, Plateau State; Federal College of Education, Usugbenu-Irua; Federal University of Technology, Manchok and Federal Polytechnic Kwale, Delta State.
