The long arm of the law has caught up with one Mr. Ismail Adeyemi, a robber and the prime suspect who killed 2006 Gulder Ultimate Search winner, Hector Oluwaseun Joberteh.

In his confessional statement, Adeyemi said that after killing and robbing Hector of his phone and bag, they found only a pair of shoes, boxers and flower as contents in the pouch.

Adeyemi said he gave Hector’s phone to his younger brother who sold the phone for N7,000 at Ikeja Computer Village. According to him, he gave the brother N2,000 while he pocketed N5,000 after selling the phone.

Unknown to him, selling the phone was his greatest undoing as the police tracked Hector’s stolen phone to Computer Village, arrested the trader who bought the phone and later used him as bait to catch Adeyemi.

The prime suspect also denied killing Hector saying he and his gang members, KK and Nonso, only wanted to rob Hector and collect his money, but their trigger-happy partner, KK, shot the ex-reality TV star dead.

Adeyemi a native of Osogbo, Osun State said: “I was not the person that shot Hector; it was my friend, KK, who shot him. I even quarrelled with him for shooting the guy.

The suspect who said he had been involved in two operations also revealed that one of the gang members Nonso introduced him to KK.

“I have done two operations with the gang. The second operation was at Oko- Oba; that was the day KK killed Hector. Even on that day, Nonso and KK were speaking Igbo language. I didn’t understand what they were saying. When we got there, two of them also spoke with one lady who directed them to the house of the guy. We were three that went for the operation.”

While parading the suspect, Edgar Imohimi, the state Commissioner of Police, Edgar Imohimi, who confirmed that Adeyemi shot the 2006 GUS winner said the police are on the trail of Nonso and KK who are still at large.

The CP said, “I am glad to announce to you that after weeks of extensive manhunt, the principal suspect, Ismail Adeyemi, who pulled the trigger that killed the victim, has been arrested and he confessed to the crime.

“He also admitted to other various criminal activities within the state. The suspect led operatives to Sango Gasline, Ijoko, where his operational revolver pistol with nine rounds of live ammunition was recovered.”

Hector who had kept a low profile after winning the Gulder Ultimate Search reality TV show 11-years ago was trailed home last month on his way back from the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, after picking up his younger brother who had just arrived from the US.

Reports say immediately Hector parked his car and went up to his apartment, the gunmen forcibly gained entry into his compound going from one apartment to the other before locating Hector in his living room where he was shot dead.
