BAYELSA GUBER: PDP downplays last minute defections from the party

A National Assembly/House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, on Wednesday ruled on a petition by PPN and its candidate, Mr. Solomon Enweremadu.

Enweremadu was seeking the nullification of INEC declaration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and current member representing the constituency in the present 7th State Assembly, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe.

The Tribunal Chairman, Justice Cornelius Akintoye, while delivering the judgement said that the Petition of the PPN candidate lacked merit and the petitioner failed to establish his case beyond reasonable doubt.

Recall that Mr. Solomon Enweremadu had dragged the PDP candidate in the last 2019 State House of Assembly and current lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa North, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe to the tribunal asking it to cancel the March 9 election conducted in Isiala Ngwa North by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Enweremadu, (Petitioner), had claimed that the State Assembly election held in Isiala Ngwa on March 9, 2019 was rigged and did not comply with electoral guidelines spelt out by the INEC.
