Truck call-up: NPA, navy vow to punish bribe-taking officers

Published

The Nigerian Ports Authority has said that any of its officials found collecting bribe to influence the ongoing truck call-up system at the ports will be severely dealt with in accordance with the law.

The Assistant General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications of the NPA, Mallam Suwaid Isah, stated this in an interview with The PUNCH correspondent.

He was reacting to reports that government officials managing the Apapa port gridlock through a call-up card system were allegedly extorting truck drivers.

“The allegation has not been brought to the notice of the NPA management; but let me assure you and the general public that any NPA staff found soiling their hand in such a sordid practice shall be dealt with,” he said.
