Turkish prosecutors order arrest of 100 soldiers over alleged links with Muslim cleric Gulen

Authorities in Turkey have ordered the arrest of no less than 100 soldiers over alleged links with United States-based Muslim religious leader and businessman, Fethullah Gulen.

According to reports, the arrests were made following probes into pay phone communications between alleged members of Gulen’s network.

Recall that Gulen was accused by the government of Turkey of orchestrating a failed coup in the year 2016.

Thus far, more than 77,000 people have been jailed, pending trial, while 150,000 civil servants, military personnel and others have been sacked or suspended from their jobs as part of the post-coup purges.
