U-20 WC: Nigeria battle USA today, as Eagles gun for last-16 spot

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be on set again at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup as they face the United States in matchday two on Monday.

The Paul Aigbogun lads thrashed Qatar 4-0 in their opening Group B match last Friday to kick off their campaign on a good note.

Nigeria sit atop the group with a better goal difference ahead of Ukraine, who defeated USA 2-1 in the group’s other game last week.

The United States will be gunning for their first points in the competition, and could be a hard nut to crack for the young Eagles.

With a win, Nigeria will have successfully booked their place in the knockout stage before their final group game against high-flying Ukraine.

Qatar, who are also without a point in the group, will take on Ukraine elsewhere.

Aigbogun told the media after Qatar win: “Kudos to the boys. But the competition has just started and we must now take it one match at a time.

“Victory over USA will guarantee us a place in the knock-out stage and that is what we will go for.”

The Flying Eagles vs USA game will hold in the city of Bielsko-Biala in Poland by 7:30pm Nigeria time.
