Super Eagles striker, Anthony Ujah, scored two goals as his club SV Werder Bremen defeated FSV Mainz 3-1 in a German Bundesliga game played on Saturday.
SV Werder Bremen finally ended their five-game losing streak thanks to an explosive six-minute spell that helped Viktor Skripnik’s side to victory against FSV Mainz 05.
With his two goals, Ujah gave Bremen their first points in six games. Though quiet for large periods, he showed classic poacher’s instincts, striking ruthlessly to stun his former club at the end of the first half.
Bremen took the lead in the 40th minutes when Anthony Ujah headed into an empty net after Loris Karius misjudged a cross from Santiago Garci.
The Nigerian doubled the lead moments later, tapping in from close range after another cross from Garcia. Fin Bartels then made it 3-0 in first-half injury time after a delightful combination between Jannik Vestergaard and Florian Grillitsch.
Mainz came out fighting in the second half, with Werder allowing their opponents far too much space, although the hosts’ numerous chances came to nothing. Despite pressure and wave after wave of crosses, Mainz simply could not get close enough to the Bremen goal to worry Felix Wiedwald, until Yoshinori Muto grabbed his side a late consolation.

Meanwhile, John Obi Mikel replaced Cesc Fabregas and was in action for 45 minutes in Chelsea’s loss on Saturday.
Chelsea’s terrible start to the English premier league football has plumbed new depths with the defending champions losing 2-1 at West Ham United.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was banished from the dugout and midfielder Nemanja Matic was sent off.
With 10 matches played, Chelsea have lost five times, two more than in the whole of last season when they won the title.
They are 15th in the standings with 11 points.
