Nigeria U-20 Women team, the Super Falcons are treading on a tight corner following their 2-1 narrow victory over Basetsana, the South African U20 Women’s National Team in the first leg of their U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier at the National Stadium, Abuja.

The Falconets broke the deadlock after the 30-minute mark thanks to a strike from the ever-threatening Chiwendu Ihezuo.

Nigeria nearly doubled their advantage in the 36th minute, when Uchenna Kanu rattled the woodwork with a low effort.

It got worse for the South Africans on the stroke of halftime, as when Uchenna Kanu slotted home to double the home side’s lead.

Basetsana were under pressure for most of the game and nearly conceded a third in the 65th minute but they managed to clear an effort off the line.

However, the South Africans did manage to grab away goal in stoppage time, thanks to penalty from Gabriela Salgado.

The return leg is scheduled to take place in South Africa in two week’s time.
