For the second time in a week, the bail hearing of former finance minister Ignatius Chombo who is facing charges of corruption has been postponed till Thursday by a court in Zimbabwe.

Reports say Chombo’s bail hearing at the High Court which had been due to sit on the case on Wednesday was postponed after the state prosecutor said he needed time to prepare his case.

This will be the second time Chombo’s bail hearing will be postponed after a lower court ruling last week denied him bail pending his trial on Dec. 8 which has now been postponed till Thursday.

Chombo who is facing charges of corruption that allegedly took place 20-years ago when he allegedly tried to defraud the central bank in 2004 was detained by the military before Robert Mugabe resigned as president.

The former finance minister was slammed with charges of corruption and abuse of power related to his earlier tenure as minister of local government, public works and urban development.

He was among members of the G40 political faction allied to 93-year-old Mugabe and his wife, Grace, who were also expelled from the ruling ZANU-PF party.
