1. Stop fighting the UN, fix insecurity instead, PDP tells Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to accept the “bitter truth” instead of picking a fight with the United Nation (UN) Rapporteur for highlighting the grave security issues in the country. A statement on Saturday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, advised that instead of embarking on an ego trip, the Buhari Presidency should be seeking for help, alleging that the administration had no solution to the problems in the country.

2. EZEKWESILI TO BUHARI: You may ‘cage’ Sowore, but you can’t ‘cage an idea whose time has come

A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili Saturday took on the Federal Government over the continued detention of the co-convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, describing the President Muhammadu Buhari administration as one that was intolerant of criticism. Ezekwesili, who was a presidential candidate in the 2019 general election, also described the AAC presidential candidate’s detention as unconstitutional and unlawful.

3. Some vice-chancellors are mismanaging the university system —ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Saturday called on the Federal Government to send visitation panels to universities in order to douse tension and prevent breakdown of industrial relations in campuses. ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, made the call on Saturday while speaking with reporters. According to him, the call became necessary because of continued reports of intimidation and harassment of some of its members in some universities in the country.

4. Results of Kogi guber already written in favour of Yahaya Bello —Kogi Guber Candidate

Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the Kogi governorship election, Dabo Dantele Yusuf, has alleged that the results of the November 16 polls have already been prepared. According to him, the result has been written in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Yahaya Bello. He made the claims at an interactive session with the Forum of Igala Journalists (FORIJA) in Abuja.

5. CAN applauds El-Rufai for stopping demolition of 110-yr-old church

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has lauded the decision by the state government to save the 110-year-old St. George Anglican Church, Zaria, from demolition. CAN had cried out to the governor over a purported seven-day notice issued on Thursday by the Urban Planning Development Agency (KASUPDA) for the demolition of Saint George’s Anglican Church in Sabon Gari, Zaria, which was built about 110 years ago.

6. Lafia Emir calls for recognition of Pidgin English as an official language in Nigeria

Emir of Lafia, Sidi Bage Muhammad I, has urged the Nigerian government to officially recognize Pidgin English as a language in the country. Muhammad, a retired Supreme Court Justice made the call on Saturday at the 35th Annual National Conference of English Scholars’ Association of Nigeria (ESAN), in collaboration with Department of Languages, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Abuja. According to him, the recognition of Pidgin English was necessary as it would help unify the country.

7. MAIDUGURI: Peace returns to Gajiram community as policemen arrive with 100 hunters

The Nigerian Army Saturday said peace had returned to Gajiram community of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as the police DPO, alongside 100 hunters, returned to the community. A statement by Col Ado Isa, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, revealed the development.

8. VAT INCREASE: Falana kicks, says it’s Illegal until NASS amends law

Human Rights Lawyer, Femi Falana, has kicked against any increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) until the National Assembly carry out an amendment into the VAT law. According to him, the amendment would be by way of an executive money bill from President Muhammadu Buhari.

9. Kogi govt laments, as flood takes over 150 communities

Kogi State government on Saturday, lamented over ravaging floods in the state, which it said, had taken over 150 communities. Mr Sanusi Yahaya, Kogi Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, said over 150 communities have been submerged following a flood in nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State.

10. Rape allegation against Fatoyinbo, a distraction and fight from the pit of hell —COZA

The Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) has made an attempt to address what it says are misconceptions and misinformation against its founder, Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo. COZA while reacting to the allegations of rape in a statement issued by Ademola Adetuberu, Executive Senior Assistant to the Senior Pastor, condemned what it called recent ‘unprovoked satanic campaign of calumny orchestrated against its leadership and members by agents of darkness.’
