4 interesting facts about New Year resolutions

What is your New Year resolution? For some, the New Year means a new, fitter, healthier you.

2018 is the year to lose weight, join a gym, travel the world and get a new job! So many of us make resolutions like this.

But we all know one fact about New Year’s resolutions that we’d rather hide and that is basically the fact that we never stick to our own resolutions most of the time.

Listed below are four interesting facts about making New Year resolutions.

1. New Year’s Resolutions Usually Fail Because There Was No Clear Goal:
It usually isn’t for a lack of effort that we fail to stick to resolutions. Instead, it’s down to the lack of a clear enough goal. Be specific about what you want, be reasonable, and be clear.

2. More Vehicles Are Stolen On New Year’s Than On Any Other Holiday:
The New Year is supposed to be a time when we forgive, forget, rejoice and look forward to new things with the people we love. It’s a time to be thankful for what we have, as well as to set goals and look to the future with our friends and families. Unfortunately, there are some mean people out there, and new year’s eve is popular with car thieves who want to ruin things for everyone. Wherever you go this year, make sure your car is safe.

3. Lots Of Us Make Our Resolutions Late: Most resolutions are made between December 28th and January 1st (65%), but lots of people don’t make a new year’s resolution until the end of January.

4. New Year’s Resolutions Rarely Last: Sure, many of us would dearly love to exercise and get fitter. “This is the year I join the gym and work out at least four times a week!” we defiantly proclaim on new year’s eve. Unfortunately, the fact is that resolutions usually fail after the first week. In fact, as many as 22% resolutions don’t make it past the crucial first week, while 40% have been forgotten about after a month. To make sure you don’t fail, you’ve gotta keep reminding yourself of your goals and why you made a resolution in the first place.
