AFCON: Sand Eagles pick World Cup slot, to play Senegal in final

The Super Sand Eagles of Nigeria on saturday defeated Morocco 6-1 in their semi-final clash at the ongoing CAF Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations in Lagos.

The win meant that the Eagles have progressed to the final of the tournament, as well as clinched a spot in next year’s FIFA Beach soccer World Championship at the Bahamas, which is scheduled to begin in April 2017.

The other semi-final clash was between Group B winners Senegal and Group A runners-up Egypt.

The Senegalese triumphed 5-2 against the Pharaohs, and will play against hosts Nigeria on Sunday in the final showdown.

Africa will be represented by two teams at the Beach Soccer World Cup. Hence, the two teams that have made it to the final of the AFCON already coveted the tickets to participate in the global scene from April 27 in Bahamas.
