Alkali’s killing: Suspect not our member, surveyors tell police, army

THE Nigerian Institution of Surveyors has said none of its members in Plateau State was involved in the disappearance and subsequent killing of General Idris Alkali (retd), a former chief of administration in the Nigeria Army whose lifeless body was reportedly recovered recently by soldiers from an abandoned well in the Jos-South Local Government Area of the state.

The Chairman of the union in Plateau State, Dr Bitrus Dang, made the denial while speaking with The Punch in Jos on Wednesday against reports that one Chuwang Istifanus Stephen, who was said to be a surveyor, was among the eight suspects recently declared wanted by the police.

Dang said that after scrutinising the union’s register and inquiring from other members, he was unable to confirm the name of the said suspect as one of them.
