Amid defection drama Buhari leaves for London on holiday

The presidency has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari will embark on a 10-day working holiday in London from Friday, the 3rd of August.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement reads in part: “In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, a letter has been transmitted to the President of the Senate, and the Speaker, House of Representatives to that effect.

“While the President is on vacation, the Vice President will be in acting capacity as President.

The President will be spending the holiday in London.”

Buhari is taking a holiday in the heat of several defections which has rocked his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the last few days, his party has lost three state governors, a senate President, several federal lawmakers, and state House of assembly legislators.
