APC’s call for arrest, interrogation of PDP leaders nothing but ‘shadow-boxing’- PDP

In reaction to the accusations levelled against it by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the APC to stop “their unnecessary fabrications, smear campaign and prepare to face its legal team at the Presidential election tribunal”.

In a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP described APC’s INEC server allegation as a smear campaign that signals a jitter in the camp of the ruling party.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council had, on Monday, petitioned the Nigerian Police and Department of State Security (DSS) to invite, interrogate and probe leadership of the PDP hacking into the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, the PDP claimed that President Buhari is overweighed by the “burden of illegitimacy”.

The party alleged that the claims by the APC are an attempt at blackmailing the tribunal by engaging in clear acts of subjudice.

It further claimed that the facts and issues touching on the INEC server were already within the public domain and Nigerians are already at home with them.

“By resorting to shadow-boxing outside the tribunal, President Buhari and the APC have shown that they have no defence to present to the court against PDP’s submission that they stole our mandate.

“It is even more appalling that Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a member of Buhari’s legal team, who should know better, would engage in this act of subjudice designed to distort facts already known to Nigerians, that our Presidential Candidate and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, clearly won the February 23 Presidential election,” the party said.

The party asked the president to surrender to its candidate Atiku Abubakar, claiming that the ruling APC has no defence to present to the court.
