Army says Maiduguri explosions are routine tests

Authorities of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Sunday, disclosed that the early morning explosions in the out-skirt of Maiduguri emanated from routine testing of military equipment.
Confirming the development on Sunday, spokesman of the Division, Col Tukur Gusau, called on residents not to panic.
“It is a routine test firing of our weapons to ensure that they are in a state of readiness.

It will be recalled that the AFP, an international news agency, had reported that multiple explosions rocked the troubled city, killing ten people and injuring several others.
The news agency quoted locals.
