ASUU vows to paralyse activities at LAUTECH over unpaid salary

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chapter of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Wednesday vowed to disrupt academic activities at the school if the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola fails to meet up with their outstanding two months’ salaries by the end of this month.

ASUU alleged that Osun State Government scheduled to pay subvention between July and December 2019, but only paid in July, and refused to pay for August and September, making payment of salary impossible.

The union after their congress, said the government should not see them as enemies if academic activities at the school were disrupted again.

A statement by LAUTECH ASUU Chairman, Dr Biodun Olaniran, and Secretary, Dr Toyin Abegunrin contained the union’s decision.
In the statement, the union accused Oyetola of failing to release money since August to pay workers, adding that their members were owed six years’ unpaid Earned Academic Allowances.

LAUTECH is jointly owned by Oyo and Osun states.
