Messi wraps up 6-1 win over Sevilla to send Barca to Copa del Rey semis

La Liga champions, Barcelona have sealed their place in the semifinal of Copa del Rey after beating Sevilla 6-3 on aggregate in their last eight tie.

Trailing 2-0 from the first leg at Sevilla, Barca only needed to score three unreplied goals to advance, but sealed a thrilling 6-1 win at Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi wrapped up the rout with a goal in injury time to cap up his fine performance in the encounter.

Phillippe Coutinho opened the scoring from the spot in the 13th minute, before Ivan Rakitic levelled on aggregrate on 31 minutes.

Coutinho scored his second of the night eight minutes into the second half, Sergio Roberto made it 4-0 one minute after Coutinho’s goal.

Sevilla fired back in the 67th minute via a Guilherne Arana goal, then Luis Suarez made it 5-1 before Messi wrapped it up.

Valencia and Real Betis already qualified for the semifinal.

Real Madrid travel to Girona on Thursday for the reverse fixture of their tie, with the Los Blancos leading 4-2 on aggregate.
