Portuguese striker, Cristiano Ronaldo was in action for Juventus in their Coppa Italia shocking defeat to Atalanta on Wednesday night.

The Serie A champions, who were playing away from home, got knocked out of the competition after losing 3-0 to their hosts.

Atalanta scored twice in the first half with goals from Timothy Castagne and Duvan Zapata.

Zapata then claimed his second in the 86th minute to seal the victory and set up a semi-final clash against Fiorentina.

According to stats company, OptaJoe, before Wednesday night, the last 2 teams able to win 3-0 over Juventus were Real Madrid (in April 2018) and Barcelona ( in September 2017).

And on their Twitter handle, Atalanta wrote – as translated from Italian – “If it’s a dream, please don’t wake us up. Thanks guys. Thank you MISTER!!!”

Juve have won the past four Coppa Italia titles under manager Massimiliano Allegri, but the defending champions, who fielded a strong squad, have crashed out.

Atalanta will now play a two-legged last-four tie against Fiorentina, who had earlier thrashed AS Roma 7-1 to advance.
