What becomes of Zuma's statue? Nigerians ask Okorocha after resignation of controversial S’African president

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State is currently at the centre of a meltdown on Twitter as Nigerians are now asking him about what becomes of the statue he erected in honour of controversial South African President Jacob Zuma who hours ago stepped down from power after a tumultuous nine year reign.

Scores of livid users on the social media platform expressed their disgust and distaste, with some wondering why Okorocha, who also has a habit of courting controversy would erect a statue for a man whose tenure was riddled with corruption allegations.

“Okorocha’s friend Zuma resigns on corruption charges. Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are,” Twitter user @OkangbeLeen_ posted on the social media platform.

@MagicVille also posted thus on Twitter too; “Okorocha should be ashamed of himself for erecting Zuma statue in Imo see how he was disgraced out of office.”

While another user @albentann rhetorically asked; “When is Rochas bringing down Zuma statue?”

Embattled Zuma was forced to resign as president after he announced his resignation as the number one citizen of the country in a televised address to the nation yesterday.

The controversial leader whose tumultuous nine year reign was marked by economic decline and numerous allegations of corruption said during the televised address that his decision is with immediate effect.

The 75-year-old leader who is considered to be South Africa’s most controversial president also noted in his televised speech that no leader should stay beyond his welcome.
