BREAKING: 216 new cases of COVID-19 take Nigeria’s total to 54,463; death toll now 1,027

Nigeria recorded 216 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which disclosed this on its Twitter handle, said the cases were recorded in 15 states of the federation and Abuja.

It added that four people died from complications resulting from the virus on Wednesday.

Consequently, the number of COVID-19 fatalities increased from 1,023 to 1,027.

Also, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 54,463.

Meanwhile, 42,439 patients have been discharged from various isolation facilities across the country as at Wednesday night.

The breakdown of the figure on a state-by-state basis revealed the following: Plateau (59), Rivers (27), Abia (22), Lagos (20), Oyo (18), Enugu (17), Kaduna (11) and, FCT (11).

Others are – Ogun (10), Ebonyi (4), Osun (4), Ekiti (4), Delta (3), Edo (3), Akwa Ibom (2) and, Bauchi (1).

The NCDC said: “54,463 cases of #COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“Discharged: 42,439 AND Deaths: 1,027.”
