GEORGE FLOYD: Now is the time for ‘racial justice' –Joe Biden

Former US Vice President, Joe Biden may any time soon be officially announced as the President-elect of the US on Saturday as he widened his lead in the battleground state of Georgia, after defeating the incumbent Donald Trump in another strategic state, Pennsylvania.

Biden’s lead over Trump grew to 7,248 votes on Saturday morning, up from 4,430 a few hours earlier, media outlets including CNN reported, citing US election authorities.

If Georgia is called for Biden and he retains his lead in Arizona, he would have enough votes to pass the critical 270 mark in the Electoral College and take the presidency.

According to reports, results are still too close to call in several states, where crucial mail-in votes are being counted. Biden is however favoured to win in those states.

But with the win Pennsylvania, Biden is now assured of the White House as his tally already surpassed the needed 270 elctoral college votes.

Trump has made allegations of rigging, though numerous election officials, including members of both major parties, have said bluntly that there was no widespread fraud.
