Buhari’s anti-graft war nabs AGF as first victim

President Muhammadu Buhari’s proclaimed zero tolerance for corruption may have got its first victim as the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) Mr. Jonah Otunla was on Friday removed from office.

Reports by an online news medium, The Will, allege that Otunla’s sack may not be unconnected to an alleged misappropriation of N2.5 billion security agencies’ funds.

Mohammed Dikwa, from Borno State, has been appointed as his replacement, in an acting capacity.

Until his appointment as the Acting Accountant-General, Mr. Dikwa was the Director, Funds Department in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, the statement said.

The Office of the AGF confirmed the removal of Otunla as Accountant and the appointment of Dikwa as Acting Accountant General.

In a statement late Friday, the Office of the AGF said President Muhammadu Buhari approved the change, which takes immediate effect.

The statement said Dikwa would hold the position until a substantive replacement is announced.
