Child custody war brews between Mike Adenuga's son and estranged lover

There is a child custody war brewing between Eniola, the son of telecommunications mogul, Mike Adenuga, and his estranged babymama identified simply as Damilola.

According to reports, Eniola in the company of policemen on Friday, May 18, 2018, reportedly picked his three-year-old daughter Athena at her school in the Lekki area of Lagos State, without the mother’s consent.

A court order issued by the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court in September 2017, had awarded custody of the child to the mother after the pair fell-out which lead to a legal battle for the custody of their daughter.

However, Eniola was given unrestricted access to the child by the court which said he could pick her up every Friday from the child’s mother and return her on Sunday.

Reports say Damilola is angry that Eniola came to pick his daughter on the said date without her being around to hand over their daughter to him and has since not returned Athena to her.

Eniola’s act has forced Damilola to file a petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, through her counsel Falana and Falana Chambers claiming that her daughter’s father’s action was “tantamount to abduction”.

Damilola’s petition filed through her counsel to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police reads thus in part; “On Friday, May 18, 2018, our client dropped off Athena at school (Marymount School, Rachael Nwagwu Street, Lekki) around 8.30am, as usual. About 2pm same day, our client returned to the said school to pick up her daughter. To our client’s dismay, the school told her that Mr Eniola Adenuga in company with some mobile policemen came to the school and forcefully took Athena away without her school bag.

“Our client immediately called Mr Eniola Adenuga to find out why he took the child away without her consent, contrary to the order of court that our client remain in custody of Athena and access given to Mr Adenuga every week from Friday to Sunday in company with Athena’s nanny.

“Mr Adenuga did not take the calls or respond to message sent to him by our client till date, safe for his one sentence response that he had taken Athena. Till date, our client does not know the whereabouts of Athena and has confirmed from the school that Athena is not in school.

“Our client is distressed as the conduct of Mr Eniola Adenuga is likely to cause a breach of public peace.”

The incident is coming almost eighteen months after Paddy Adenuga, another male child of Mike Adenuga Jnr, refuted news making the rounds at the time that he is getting set to marry former Miss Lebanon, Marie Jose Hnein.

Reacting to a publication by a popular Nigerian blog, Paddy said the girl in question Hnein is his sister’s friend and they are no way planning to get married.
