COVID-19: Kwara govt imposes curfew on state

Kwara State government Sunday imposed a curfew on the state as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the people.

The governor’s media aide, Rafiu Ajakaiye, who disclosed this in a statement, insisted that the recent relaxation of the lockdown did not mean that the state was out of the woods.

The curfew, according to him, is from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The government also denied that any of the COVID-19 patients in the state has escaped from the isolation centre to Ogun State.

Ajakaiye said: “Effective from tomorrow, Monday, May 4, there will be statewide curfew from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until further notice. This is part of the agreement of the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) to prevent non-essential and unauthorised movement that could spike the infection rate.

“Also, in addition to the measures earlier announced on Friday, May 1, the government hereby bans travels/movement from one local government to the other. This is especially true of local governments with clear borders.”
