COVID-19: Osun confirms 23 new cases, as SSG, 21 others recover from deadly virus

The Osun State government has confirmed that its Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Wole Oyebamiji, and 21 others have tested negative for the deadly COVID-19 virus after treatment.

This was confirmed by the State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, who made the announcement in a statement on Saturday in the state capital, Osogbo.

He said; “21 other patients have also tested negative and have all been discharged. Osun also recorded 23 additional cases of COVID-19 that were contacts from previous cases in the State.

“The government appeals to citizens and residents of the State to always observe all the precautionary measures laid down by the State against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

According to Dr Isamotu, the 23 fresh cases now brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 233 with 116 active cases recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic.

This came after the state government said on Wednesday night the state had recorded 11 fresh COVID-19 cases.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 21 cases in the state Tuesday night.
