Drama as Lagos drops case against woman who attempted suicide
Reprieve has come the way of a 58-yr-old textile dealer Mrs. Taiwo Momoh who attempted suicide months ago after she was discharged by an Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court for her crime.
Reports say the decision by the court to strike out the case of the accused sparked a mild drama within the court premises as the textile dealer stepped out of the dock, knelt down and started giving praises to God moments after her case had been dismissed as recommended by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
Before the announcement, Mrs. Taiwo Momoh appeared before magistrates’ court, represented by two counsels, F.A. Azeez and Eniola Disu, both of the Office of the Public Defender.
During court proceedings, Mrs. A.T. Olaleye, a prosecutor from the state Ministry of Justice, announced that the DPP had issued advice on the matter.

“I am directed to inform this court that legal advice has been issued on the matter,” she said.
The magistrate, Tajudeen Elias, after skimming through the advice in the case file, said the charges had been dismissed.
“By the DPP’s advice, the defendant is hereby discharged and acquitted,” he said.
When Mrs. A.T. Olaleye was initially arrested after attempting to commit suicide, she claimed she had accumulated debts of over N18m after a bureau de change operator allegedly fled with money belonging to her Swiss creditor.
She also claimed that her shop was also reportedly burgled around the time, which led to frustration and depression as she later decided that the best way out was to take her own life.

She deserves to give more praises to her God. She would have been used as sample for those thinking of committing murder. She must have learnt her lesson by now.

May be the woman bribed everyone involved in the case so they Can back off the case. The legal advice was just an excuse to make it look professional.

You are right. But someone in debts, how could she have managed to raise money to bribe? Except she just wanted to gain fame and never got into any debts because now she has become popular.
