EBONYI: 70-yr-old man nabbed for raping 6-yr-old orphan

The long arm of the law has caught up with a 70-year-old man identified as Simon Alobu after he was arrested by men of the Ebonyi State Police Command for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl simply identified as Favour.

According to reports, the suspect, Alobu, popularly known as Papa Eke was arrested in Akpoha community in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State after he was handed over to the police by the state’s family special court, Family Law Centre following a report by Favour’s aunt.

Recounting her ordeal, the victim who moved to her maternal house where her aunt lives following the death of her parents, said the suspect who lived in their compound, hypnotised and repeatedly raped her.

“The man said, I should come and prepare food for him. After preparing the food, the man locked the door and carried me to his bed and raped me” the victim said..

According to the girl’s aunt, the rapist mutilated Favour’s bottom with razor blade where he presumably applied some charms to prevent the girl from revealing his identity as she became aware of Favour’s condition after she (Favour) complained of severe pains in her private part.

She said she immediately took the girl to Afikpo where the rape was confirmed as she made efforts to report the case to the police.

“Favour confessed and we went to the man and he agreed that he has been raping her, and had raped her five times”, Favour’s aunty said.
