FCT area council election to hold March 2 alongside gov, state assembly polls- INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the area council elections in FCT will hold on March 2, 2019, along with the governorship and state Assembly polls.

Series of tweets on INEC verified Twitter handle, quoted the commission’s chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, as disclosing this during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the Conference Room at the INEC headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday.

The chairman had also at the meeting said the list of candidates for elections will be published in its Federal Capital Territory (FCT) office and also at the six Area Councils on Wednesday, 21st November, 2018 (today).

He therefore urged citizens to check the personal details of the chairmanship and councillorship candidates that seek to represent them.

“He noted that the Area Council elections in FCT will hold on March 2, 2019, along with the governorship and state Assembly elections,” the tweet also stated.

INEC noted that party primaries for the area council elections ended on October 27, 2018.
