FIBAWCQ: D’Tigers back to winning ways, beat Central African Republic 72-59
Nigeria men’s basketball team, D’Tigers bounced back from a disappointing defeat against Cote d’Ivoire to win over Central Africa Republic (CAF) at the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Abidjan.
The Alex Nwora men, who had been on a nine-game unbeaten run, were handed their first defeat in the qualifying campaign by the hosts on Friday night, but bounced back with a 72-59 victory over CAF on Saturday night.
Captain Ike Diogu led the way with 22 points and 9 rebounds while Ikenna Iroegbu chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Nigeria already qualified for the FIBA World Cup billed to hold in China, and the win on Saturday night takes the team’s mak to (10-1) in the qualifiers.
They face Senegal in the final game of the campaign on Sunday.
Both teams already sealed their place in China, but D’Tigress will be looking to prove their quality as the number one team in the continent.
