Former OAU VC, bursar arraigned over alleged N1.4bn fraud
A former acting Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Prof. Anthony Elujoba and the University Bursar, Mrs. Aderonke Akeredolu were on Friday arraigned at the Osun State High Court sitting in Ede.
They were arraigned before Justice A. D. Oladimeji by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 7-count charge bordering on  conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and using position for gratification.
The defendants were arraigned following a petition alleging that Elujoba, alongside the Bursar, diverted the sum of One Billion, Four Hundred Thousand Naira from the University’s Fixed Assets and Endowment Fund without approval from the Federal Ministry and Governing Council of the University to pay some unapproved allowances.
He was alleged to have paid himself N7million (Seven Million Naira) furniture allowance, from the amount.
Justice Oladimeji adjourned the case to 11 July, 2017 for hearing of the bail applications.
Meanwhile the court ordered that the defendants  be remanded in the EFCC custody.
