Japanese Olympic largesse not ready, says Mikel

Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi has expressed his disappointment over his absence at the team’s camp as he is set to miss another international friendly.

The Tianjin Teda midfielder, who missed out in the battle against Poland last Friday, will also not be representing the country in the friendly encounter with Serbia on Tuesday.

Reacting on Twitter on Monday, Mikel said he was sad and frustrated for missing another opportunity to feature in a game designed to prepare the team ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control I will not be on the field for our game v Serbia tomorrow. I am sad, and frustrated, but giving my full support to the team for another WIN! ???? #SoarSuperEagles,” Mikel wrote.

The former Chelsea of England star has been capped 82 times by Nigeria, and has had troubles sorting out his work permit in China.

The Super Eagles defeated Poland 1-0 last Friday and will face Serbia on Tuesday as the build-up to the World Cup continues.

Tuesday’s game will kick off at 8pm at the Hive, Barnet FC Stadium, London.
