Reps committee divided over Operation Positive Identification

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has assured the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) that the wanted Reps member would visit its office on Monday (today).

The House of Representatives member, Shehu Mohammed, was declared wanted by the ICPC last week over alleged failure to appear before the commission in an ongoing investigation against him.

Mohammed is the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

The ICPC said it was interrogating him for allegedly using his position as former Aide-de-camp (ADC) to a former Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema, to confer undue advantage on himself.

However, the ICPC in a statement on its website said that it had been assured by Gbajabiamila that Mohammed would appear before it on Monday.

The commission’s statement read, “The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has guaranteed the appearance of Hon. Shehu Koko Mohammed who represents Koko/Besse Federal Constituency declared wanted by ICPC.

“The Commission accepts the assurance while it looks forward to seeing the Hon Member by Monday 16th December 2019.
Hon. Mohammed had failed to perfect his administrative bail and ignored the Commission’s invitations.”

Mohammed, an indigene of Kebbi State, currently represents Maiyama/Koko/Besse Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
