GOVT SHUTDOWN: Resign now, former US secretary of state, Kerry tells Trump

The partial government shutdown which has now stretched to a month in the United States of America has been described as a “massive failure” by former US secretary of state John Kerry.

According to Kerry who was speaking on a CNBC panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the government shutdown also amounts to “utter disgrace” of the U.S. democratic process.

“It’s embarrassing for our government, it’s embarrassing for our country,” he said.

When he was asked by CNBC’s Tania Bryer, the panel’s moderator, about what he wanted to tell the president Kerry replied saying; “Resign,” with his response drawing some laughter and applause from the audience.

Kerry who served as secretary of state during the administration of Barack Obama also blasted Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement saying his decision would “cost lives.”

“People will die because of the president’s decision, and billions of dollars of damage will be done to property as a result of our not moving fast enough to do what is necessary to avoid the worst consequences,” he said.
