Chelsea, Man Utd join race for Griezmann

A day after manager Diego Simeone reduced the length of his contract by two seasons, Atletico produced a dominant performance at the Vicente Calderon as Kevin Gameiro scored between two first-half goals from strike partner Griezmann.

Fernando Torres wrapped up the win with a pair of goals late in the second half as Atletico secured their second successive league win.

Elsewhere, Eibar came from behind to draw 1-1 against Sevilla despite having two players sent off.

Luciano Vietto gave Sevilla the lead in the 27th minute before Eibar goalkeeper Yoel Rodriguez was shown a red card on the stroke of half-time.

Pedro Leon equalised for Eibar, who finished the game with nine men after Dani Garcia was also dismissed.

Barcelona returned to winning ways in La Liga with a 5-1 win over Leganes, with Lionel Messi scoring twice for the defending champions. Real Madrid travel to Espanyol on Sunday evening.
