Gunmen kidnap senator, policeman in Taraba

Senator Zik Sunday Ambuno has been kidnapped by gunmen in Taraba State.

Ambuno, who represented Taraba North at the Nigerian Senate from 2003 to 2007 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was kidnapped early hours of Monday, July 13, 2020, at his home in Bachama village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of of the state.

He was said to have visited his village to mobilize workers to work on his farms when the men of the underworld stormed his home with guns and kidnapped him.

The gunmen were said to have also kidnapped his security guards at gunpoint but later freed them.

According to the security guards, the unknown gunmen whisked the senator away to a mountain around Taraba/Gombe bolder areas.

In a related development, a police corporal and an Imam of police headquarters Jalingo, Mustapha Nuhu, has also been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Nuhu, it was learnt, was also kidnapped at his home by some armed men at the weekend along Sabon-Geri area in Jalingo, Taraba State capital.

The developments were confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP David Misar.

According to Misar, the State Police Commissioner had directed that every effort must be made to ensure that the two persons were rescued and the kidnappers arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
